Your stuff stays yours.

The short version

SelfieTube doesn't collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your recordings stay on your device. There's no account, no login, no tracking, and no analytics. The only thing that ever leaves your phone is the search query you type into the YouTube search box — and that goes directly to Google.

Who we are

SelfieTube is an iOS app developed and published by Bruno Borges. This privacy policy applies to the SelfieTube mobile application available on the Apple App Store. If you have questions or concerns about this policy, message us on Instagram at @bruno.deepanesthesia.

What SelfieTube does on your device

Camera and microphone

SelfieTube records video and audio using your device's camera and microphone. This recording is created and stored locally on your device. We never receive a copy. We never see what you record.

Photo library

If you tap "Save to Photos" after recording a take, SelfieTube uses Apple's standard photo library API to save your video into your device's photo library. The video is saved on your device only — we don't receive a copy.

Pasted text (teleprompter)

Anything you paste into the teleprompter input lives in the app's local memory only while you're using it. It is not uploaded anywhere, not stored long-term, and not retained when you close the app.

Worth repeating

The YouTube video and any text you load are guides shown on screen. They are never baked into your final recording. Your exported video is camera feed only.

What leaves your device

YouTube search

When you type into the YouTube search box, your query is sent to Google's YouTube Data API so we can return search results to you. This communication is between your device and Google. We don't store your queries, we don't log them, and we don't see them on any server we control.

Google may log these requests under their own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.

YouTube video playback

When you select a video to use as a backing track, SelfieTube plays it through YouTube's official embedded player inside the app. This connects directly to YouTube's servers — we are not in the middle. Your interaction with that player is governed by YouTube's privacy policy and terms of service.

Sharing

If you tap "Share" after recording, you'll see Apple's standard share sheet. Wherever you choose to send the video (Messages, Instagram, Mail, etc.) is governed by that destination app's policies, not ours.

What we don't do

  • We do not require accounts, sign-ups, or logins
  • We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personal identifier
  • We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.)
  • We do not use any advertising SDKs or display ads
  • We do not track your location
  • We do not access your contacts, calendar, or any other apps' data
  • We do not have a backend server that stores your videos, recordings, or anything else
  • We do not sell, rent, or share data with anyone — because we don't have any to share

Permissions we ask for

iOS will ask you to grant SelfieTube these permissions. You can change them at any time in your phone's Settings app.

  • Camera — required, so you can record video of yourself
  • Microphone — required, so we can capture audio with the recording
  • Photo Library (Add Only) — only requested when you tap "Save to Photos." We never read your existing photos. We only add the video you just recorded.

Children

SelfieTube is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 — although since we don't collect data from anyone of any age, this is straightforward to honour.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we'll update this policy and update the "Last updated" date at the top. We'll never make changes that quietly contradict what we promised here without making it obvious to existing users.
